A Sustainable Community
Updates (in alphabetical order) on Budget Management, the Community Guide, and a Sustainability Committee
Here’s a summary of your Condo 2 Board’s initiatives, all begun months ago—and in one case—a decade ago, and moving forward with your continued support.
Budget Management
Condo 2 Board members created and mailed to the Directors of the NWCC Board a presentation entitled “Managing the Budget Process and Villager Expectations / Four action items submitted on behalf of Condo 2 owners.”
The link above lets you read this concise presentation that we hope will be part of a discussion on long range goals. It asks the Board to take actions to increase accountability of management staff and contractors, include owners in evaluating the quality and scope of Village services, and create tools that can be used each year to develop and approve budgets that meet todays and future needs.
Village of Nagog Woods Community Guide
The Community Guide has now been approved and published, but senearthco.com is experiencing some issues that may make the Guide difficult to find and its links not as reliable as they should be. So, please download this copy of the document so that you can easily access our new one-stop, comprehensive resource. It replaces the Village Handbook which is no longer being maintained.
A decade ago, the NWCC Board created a task force to update the Village Handbook. The resulting document was presented to the Board for review in 2014. The Board did not approve it nor recommend edits, and the project lingered on a backburner for ten years, while the original Handbook was given some minimal first aid.
With the creation of a Docs Committee in 2022, interest was rekindled in providing owners with an easy-to-use compilation of what every owner needs to know. The concept for the Village of Nagog Woods Community Guide was given focus and momentum in the Position Paper developed by the Docs Committee and approved for distribution by the NWCC Board last fall. Again, because of work being done on senearthco.com, the above link points to where the document resides on a Condo 2 account.
WHY IS ALL THIS BACKGROUND INFORMATION IMPORTANT?
Sometimes projects can take a really long time to complete; patience and persistence matter.
There are many ways to sustain a community, one of which is well-informed community involvement in decision making activities.
Nagog Woods Associations maintain the focus on building a strong, happy community.
It’s critical that the Guide is regularly updated, so we are hoping to publish it four times a year, providing Fall, Winter, Spring, and Summer editions.
Links throughout the Guide get you to the information you need as quickly as possible. BUT, please note that you must be on the senearthco website (hopefully it will be stabilized soon), signed in with your password, to have all the document links work.
Your comments, suggestions, and edit recommendations are welcomed and encouraged. Please email them to Nicole with COMMUNITY GUIDE in the subject line and be sure to cc condo2association@gmail.com so that we can be sure to follow-up with you as soon as possible.
Sustainability Committee
The town of Acton now has a Sustainability Office, and the Village now has a Sustainability Committee. Thanks to the research done by a Condo 2 owner who volunteered his time and energy last Spring to help us all better manage energy challenges now and in the future, we are working with the town and its consultants to gather information on energy conservation options for Village owners. The committee has met twice. Here are the reports from those meetings:
Extra!
The NWCC Board is establishing a Long-Range Capital Planning Committe and looking for volunteers with particular areas of expertise to become committee members. You should be getting an email from the NWCC Board about this project which will be led by the Village’s Treasurer and the Corporation’s Vice President. More information will be shared as it becomes available.
